Trump says he will raise tariffs on imported steel from 25% to 50%

On May 30, local time, US President Trump said he would raise tariffs on imported steel from 25% to 50%.

The White House issued an announcement on social media that day, saying, “To further protect the US steel industry from foreign and unfair competition, starting next week, US import tariffs on steel will be raised from 25% to 50%.”

Trump signed an executive order on February 10, announcing a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States. On March 12, local time, Trump’s move to impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States officially took effect.
